The Cubs cranked out 17 hits in a 14-3 rout of the Pirates in the opener of a three-game set in Pittsburgh. Addison Russell had a career-high four hits, while Jason Heyward homered and plated four. Brett Anderson went six innings to improved to 2-and-0. Chicago has won five of its last six.
Jose Osuna went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Pittsburgh. Chad Kuhl was lit up for nine runs and eight hits in less than two innings to fall to 1-and-2.
