Jon Lester went the distance as the Cubs downed the Giants, 4-1, at Wrigley Field. Lester allowed only four hits while striking out 10 and walking none to improve to 3-and-2. Kyle Schwarber, Jason Heyward and Anthony Rizzo all homered for Chicago in the second installment of the four-game set.
Brandon Crawford smacked an RBI double in the fifth for San Francisco, which is 3-and-2 on its seven-game road trip. Johnny Cueto fanned eight, but allowed all three homers during his six-inning start to fall to 4-and-4.
Game 3 of the series is tonight at Wrigley Field.
