The Reds held on for a 2-1 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Scooter Gennett plated a run in the eighth and Billy Hamilton added an RBI single in the ninth for Cincinnati, which has split the first two in the four-game set. Michael Lorenzen got the win. Raisel Iglesias allowed a Ben Zobrist RBI single in the ninth, but held on for his 21st save. Pedro Strop was charged with the loss. Chicago fell to the Reds for only the eighth time in the last 33 meetings.
The Cubs continue their four-game series with the Reds tonight at Wrigley Field. Chicago is a game-and-a-half ahead of the Cardinals and Brewers in the NL Central. John Lackey gets the start on the mound for the Cubs. Cincinnati counters with Homer Bailey.
