Javier Baez raced across the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning to score the walk-off run on a wild pitch as the Cubs dropped the Reds, 7-6, at Wrigley Field. Anthony Rizzo keyed the Cubs with a grand slam. Tommy La Stella added an RBI double as the Cubs took a 2-1 lead in the four-game series. John Lackey tossed six frames of one-run ball and swiped his first career stolen base. Wade Davis came away with the win.
Adam Duvall and Zach Cozart clubbed two-run homers for Cincinnati. Phillip Ervin added a solo shot for his first big league hit. Wandy Peralta took the loss for the Reds, who have dropped four-of-five.
