The White Sox homered six times as a team as they clobbered the Giants 13-1 in Chicago. Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson, Yolmer Sanchez, and Avisail Garcia went deep as the Sox opened up a six-run lead through five frames. Yoan Moncada and Nicky Delmonico padded the lead with bombs of their own in the seventh. James Shields tossed seven innings of one-run ball to pick up the win as Chicago snapped a five-game slide.
San Francisco starter Jeff Samardzija surrendered four homers and six runs over five-and-two-thirds to take the loss. Nick Hundley's seventh-inning solo-shot prevented the shutout for the Giants.
Rubber game of the series is this afternoon in Chicago.
