Cubs and White Sox both win on Saturday

Kyle Hendricks fired a gem as the Cubs downed the Cardinals, 4-1, at Wrigley Field.  Hendricks struck out five over seven-and-two-thirds innings of one-run ball to pick up the win.  Wade Davis pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 30th save.  Albert Almora Junior finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Addison Russell added a solo homer.  The Cubs hold a five-game lead over the Cards for first in the NL Central. They go for the 3-game sweep in the series this afternoon.

Matt Carpenter prevented the shutout with an eighth inning solo homer.  Michael Wacha was charged with the loss for St. Louis.

Tim Anderson had a career-high four hits, scored two runs and swiped two bases as the White Sox clobbered the Tigers 10-4 in Detroit.  Matt Davidson and Nicky Delmonico homered for Chicago.  The White Sox have won six-of-eight.

Detroit starter Myles Jaye failed to make it out of the second inning, giving up six runs and taking the loss.  James McCann had three of the Tigers hits and drove in two runs.  Detroit has lost seven of eight.

Final game of the series is this afternoon in Detroit.
