Alex DeBrincat and Brandon Saad lit the lamp 19 seconds apart late in the first period to give Chicago the lead. Artem Anisimov added one on the power play the following period. The Hawks are off to a 3-0-and-1 start. Corey Crawford turned away 41 shots in the victory.
Tomas Plekanec put the Canadiens up 1-0 just 1:15 into the game. Carey Price gave up three goals on 25 attempts for Montreal, which is 1-3-and-0.
The Blackhawks will be at the United Center Thursday night against Minnesota.
