Mitch Haniger singled in the game's only run in the fourth inning as the Mariners blanked the White Sox 1-0 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Marco Gonzales struck out eight over six innings of five-hit ball to even his record at 2-and-2. Four relievers followed, with Edwin Diaz notching his ninth save.
Chris Volstad was the tough-luck loser, giving up just three hits and one run over four-and-a-third innings. Tim Anderson had two of Chicago's five hits in defeat. Yoan Moncada doubled for the only extra-base hit for the Sox, who have lost eight-of-nine.
Rubber game of the series is this afternoon. Pre-Game Show begins at 1 on Good Time Oldies 1060.
