A confirmed case of mumps in a Northern Illinois University student is prompting officials to warn the community. The school, the state and DeKalb County are distributing information about how the disease is spread and how to prevent it, including vaccination.
It's the first case of mumps at NIU this year, but dozens of students at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana campus came down with the disease this spring and summer.
