Court case continues for a Rochelle college student following fatal crash last summer

A Rochelle woman was back in Ogle County court on Monday for a status hearing after being charged with the Class 4 felony offense of aggravated reckless driving.

The arrest stems from a crash last summer that killed a college student from Kings.

19-year old Anna Speed suffered fatal injuries from the accident.

20-year old Emily Jahnke was indicted by an Ogle County grand jury for the felony offense.

The crash took place the night of June 10th of last year northeast of Creston in the 18,000 block of East Gillis Road. The jeep Jahnke was driving left the road and struck a utility pole.

Jahnke along with a front passenger in the vehicle suffered injuries and received treatment at area hospitals.

She returns to court on August 5th for a conference to discuss possible plea agreements in the case.

Jahnke is out of jail following the posting of 10 percent of a $10,000 bond.

She is currently a college student in Kentucky.

No other charges have been filed at this time by Ogle County officials.
