Storms cause problems for area residents (Updated)

Area residents are cleaning up today after severe thunderstoms traveled through the area last night and early this morning.

There are numerous reports of electrical wires and tree limbs on the ground due to the high winds and lightning in Ogle and Lee Counties.

There were also reports of standing water on roadways during the storms.

Electrical power outages in Rochelle today included the 400 block of Phyllis Avenue and 300 block of South Main Street due to tree limbs falling on the power lines.

Feeder 4  also caused a power outage for around 450 RMU customers which includes the downtown area.

All electrical power has been restored in Rochelle.

Several tree limbs fell on power lines in Ashton from the storms which closed Route 38 for a period of time last night and early this morning.

Nearly 700 residents in Lee County were without electrical power for a period of time from the storms.
