Hillcrest officials meet in monthly session

Village officials in Hillcrest met for about an hour yesterday evening with a few items on the agenda.

The board tabled the electric easement ordinance dealing with RMU. Several trustees wanted to look over the old agreement before any final decisions were made.

Trustee Tim Ball talked about traffic problems in the village when it comes to people not stopping at stops signs, illegal parking along with speeding. There has also been violations involving trucks on certain streets.

Hillcrest Police Chief Danny White said that the officers in his department work only 20 hours a week. Around 15 hours is done before 6 in the evening.

He said they are doing the best they can on the time the officers are working the streets.

The village has recently hired Lilia Calderon as the Deputy Clerk. She will work 16 hours a week at $12 per hour.

Last month, village officials named Patty Moreno as the new clerk for Hillcrest. She is also doing the duties as the treasurer.

The Village Hall in Hillcrest will now be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 until 5. Children in the village can also stop by on Halloween starting at 5pm for candy.

Absent from last night's meeting was Trustee Rich Elliott.
