Rauner and Pritzer are winners in the General Primary Election

 

It will be incumbent Bruce Rauner against JB Pritzer in the Governor's race this November in Illinois as both candidates came away winners yesterday in the General Primary Election.

Governor Rauner totaled 52.5% of the votes yesterday on the Republican ballot compared to 48.5% for Jeanne Ives. He had 2,955 votes in Ogle County compared to 2,749 for Ives. Rauner also won Lee County 944 to 877.

Pritzer ended up with 45% of the votes on the Democratic ballot. Daniel Biss finished in second place with 26 percent and Chris Kennedy was third with 24%.

Pritzer had 1,321 votes in Ogle County compared to 699 for Biss. He also won Lee County with 581 votes to 204 for Biss.

Kwame Raoul won the Democratic race for Attorney General over former Governor Pat Quinn 30 percent to 27 percent. Erika Harold defeated Gary Grasso in the Republican's race.

On the Republican ballot in Ogle County, Linda Beck won the Treasurer's race over Patrick Wiesner. She had 3,928 votes compared to 1,646 for Weisner.

Bruce McKinney and Skip Kenney move on into the General Election Race in District 4 for the Ogle County board while Stanley Asp and Dean Fox will have their name on the ballot in District 7.

Congressman Adam Kinzinger won the 16th Congressional District race over Jim Marter 68% to 32% on the Republican ballot. He will face Sara Dady in the General Election.

Robert Sonderoth won the Regional Superintendent of Schools race for Ogle, Lee, and Whiteside counties.

In Lee County, Paula Meyer was the winner in the Treasurer's race over Melissa Lawrence 67% to 33% on the Republican ballot.

In District 1 for the county board, Marilyn Shippert, Jim Schielen, and Christopher Norberg advanced to the General Election from the Republican ballot.

Residents in Amboy voted down the 15.8 million dollar building bonds proposition 206 to 195.

Residents in Winnebago approved the proposal to have the school district borrow 7.5 million dollars for building improvements 60 percent to 40 percent.

The Home Rule issue was voted down in Rockford.

27.5 percent of registered voters went to the polls yesterday in Ogle County. The number in Lee County was 13.5 percent.
