ROCHELLE - The City of Rochelle accepted a bid from a Rockford company for the annual sidewalk and pedestrian path Capital improvement project. The program provides for improved accessible pedestrian access routes including ramps for the disabled and other users. AA Construction Concrete, Inc. out of Rockford won the bidding process, offering to do the work for around $660,000. The City will purchase detectable warning plates, storm inlets/manholes, hot mix asphalt, aggregate base course and pavement striping materials for use on the project.
Sam Tesreau of the City of Rochelle Engineering Department explained that they could, with approval, allow up to $44,000 of additional work if needed with approval from the Mayor or City Manager. Funding will be coming from the existing Utility Tax. Multiple locations in Rochelle will see work done this year, with hopes the project will be completed by the end of September.
