ROCHELLE - Rochelle Municipal Utilities will be acquiring a new bucket truck under the Sourcewell procurement program. The new bucket truck will replace a 2011 unit. The truck will be purchased from Altec Industries Inc. out of Birmingham, Alabama, for around $208,000. Due to supply shortages, delivery was expected last year, but now is slated for delivery at the end of August. The Ram 5500 will be fitted with all the necessary fixed equipment.
Blake Toliver, Superintendent of Electric Operations and Generation said that these trucks are used everyday.
“Whether they’re working on overhead lines or not” he said, “Their trucks are stocked with the tools that are used for splicing cable, insulators, and everything they use on a day to day basis.”
