OREGON - The Veterans Assistance Commission of Ogle County reported a successful April, working with those who served our country to acquire the benefits they deserve, and assist with rides to appointments. So far this year they have helped bring over $100,000 in benefits to Ogle County residents who served in the armed forces. At their monthly meeting on Tuesday, they reported that they provided over thirty rides to medical appointments and other functions. A total of 806 Veterans or families of Veterans are in the system.
Superintendent Luz Maria Gilkey said they are tackling the backlog with new help around the office.
“It’s amazing to have our new staff,” she said, “we are catching up, this last week has been amazing, you can see the progress coming.
