Anthony Rizzo's grand slam highlighted an eight-run fifth inning as the Cubs crushed the Diamondbacks 14-5 at Wrigley Field. Addison Russell homered twice and Javier Baez went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI as Chicago took the opener of the three-game series. Jon Lester was the beneficiary of all the offense, pitching five innings of two-run ball to improve to 9-and-10. Zack Godley gave up six runs in less than four innings to fall to 4-and-1 with the loss. A.J. Schugel was charged with seven unearned runs in relief. Jake Lamb went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer for Arizona in defeat.
