Kyle Gibson fired seven shutout innings for his first win of the year, as the Twins blanked the White Sox 4-0 in the opener of a three-game set at U.S. Cellular Field. Gibson struck out seven as he moved to 1-and-5. Brian Dozier homered twice and drove in all four runs for Minnesota, which has won two in-a-row since a three-game skid.
Jose Quintana yielded the two homers over seven frames as he fell to 5-and-8. Tim Anderson and Brett Lawrie had two hits apiece for the Sox, who have alternated wins and losses over their last six.
Game #2 of the series is tonight and can be heard on Newstalk 1060.
